Investment casting solutions are ideal for castings used in sophisticated, high-performance products such as jet engines, turbine blades, medical and surgical devices, military ordinance and more. We design and build investment casting tools for production of products from ounces to heavy castings as well as rapid prototypes for low-volume and pilot applications.
In the investment casting process, a wax pattern and gating system are assembled and dipped in a slurry of refractory coating material. The pattern is placed upside down, and a molding sand mixture is poured around the pattern. The mold is placed in an inverted position and heated.
A set temperature is maintained in the mold for pouring the alloy and preserving intricate casting designs. When the wax melts out, the void space is filled with molten metal and a burnout process helps remove the wax and gas-forming material in the mold.
